The Baldeneysteig in Essen is an approximately 26-kilometre circular hiking trail that delights nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts. It runs around Lake Baldeney, the largest of the six Ruhr reservoirs, and offers a variety of landscapes: dense forests, picturesque meadows and impressive panoramic views of the Ruhr Valley and the lake. The trail leads through idyllic districts such as Werden and Kupferdreh and combines historical sights such as Villa Hügel and old colliery relics with unspoiled nature.
